VASE Rörstrand Manufacturer Attributed to AlfWallander (1862-1914) Designer Sweden (Stockholm): about 1900 Porcelain, modelled, pierced and painted 1694-1900 This vase was bought from Siegfried Bing's shop L'Art Nouveau in Paris, the specialist retailer in the most exclusive and sought after of the new arts. Alf Wallander was a designer in many fields - ceramics, glass, textiles, metalwork and furniture and was appointed artistic director at Rörstrand in 1895. He was responsible for a wide range of modelled shapes for Rörstrand in both porcelain and stoneware, useful and decorative wares. The factory's display of his work in the Paris 1900 Exhibition was awarded a Grand Prix.
