Gallery 100 'A History of Photography', 2014-2015, label text: Betti Mautner (1892-unknown) Portrait About 1920 Mautner was born in Austria, but lived and worked in London. She took up photography when she discovered her uncle's camera. She went on to publish a photography guide and became an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and lecturer in photography. The intricate lace bow worn by the sitter in this portrait creates an arresting study. Platinum print Museum no. E.368-2013 (06 03 2014)
