Circular knotted carpet of wool and cotton in shades of blue, red, green, yellow, fawn and white on an apricot ground, with slightly embossed outlines. With dragons all around the carpet following the circle motion. There is a small dominant circle in the middle of the carpet with a dragon in the centre; along the rims of the carpet the design is composed cloud like shapes.
In the middle of the carpet there is a dominant circle with a five-clawed blue dragon with a sacred pearl, surrounded by clouds of varying colours and enclosed in a circle of cloud and mountain forms. An outer circle consists of four pairs of confronted dragons chasing sacred pearls all around the carpet following the circle motion along the rims. The border is of weave, cloud and mountain forms.
Technical details:
Wrap and weft: cotton, S twist - Z spun.
2 shoots of paired weft threads between each row of knots.
Persian knot.
Pile: wool, lustrous and fairly long except where 'embossed'.
49 knots p. sq. in.
6.5 to ich in direction of wrap
7 to inch in direction of weft.
Edging:0.5 inch of decorative webbing, weft threads grouped in threes.
