Physical description

Drawing in watercolour and pen and ink over pencil of a rabbit in a blue dress and white apron leaning over to pour drink from a black kettle over a fire. Cup is white with pink edging. Three small rabbits look on, their backs turned to the viewer. Another rabbit is visible in another compartment of the burrow, its head above bedclothes in small bed. All contained within pencil frame.

Object history note

Drawn by Beatrix Potter, probably in 1902. Acquired by the V&A from Leslie Linder (1904-1973) in 1973 as part of the Linder Bequest, a collection of ca. 2150 watercolours, drawings, literary manuscripts, correspondence, books, photographs, and other memorabilia associated with Beatrix Potter and her family.
