Object history note

This photograph is part of a set collected by Canon Wallace of Bristol in the 1870's and 1880's, and presented to the museum in 1918 by Colonel Willoughby Wallace, his brother.

Descriptive line

Photograph depicting an exterior view of Gol Stave Church, now in the Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo. This twelfth century church was moved to its current site in the early 1880's, and it is possible that this photograph was taken to commemorate completion of the move.
