A mounted black and white topographical photograph of the detail of a carved impost or capital at the base of the arch into Room 1 in the Great Iwan in the ruins at Hatra, Iraq. The carving is formed of rows of stylized acanthus leaves and the arch itself has bas-relief portrait busts on each keystone edged with an ornamental ovolo and foliate moulding.
