Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This dish is made of earthenware and shows an incised decoration of floral motifs and a coloured lead glaze, also known as sancai or 'three colours'. The shape and incised patterns imitate similar objects in metal. Due to its soft and semi-porous body, this dish would not have been used for eating but was probably made for burials; similar examples have been found in graves of high standing citizens all over China.
