The glove puppet Sooty was a star of entertainer Harry Corbett’s live magic shows and first appeared on television in 1955. An early companion was the dog Sweep and they were joined in 1964 by the panda Soo. More characters were later introduced, among them Scampi, Sooty's young cousin.

Grey plush soft toy dog in a standing position with arms raised. It is wearing blue dungarees with yellow buttons. The paw pads and ears are black. The nose is red, the mouth an inverted Y in black stitching and the eyes orange and black. It is filled with polyester beans.
