Drawing in pencil of room interior. In the centre is wide hearth with panelled wall and cupboard on either side. American clock and china on mantel shelf, fender and rag rug in front. A hawk sits on a rush-seated chair to the left of the fireplace and a rush-seated bobbin-turned armchair with cushion is to the right. Both chairs face to the left. Half a closed door in view to the left of fireplace. Open door on to stairs on joining wall to the right. Foreground has round table with cloth and American oil-lamp on it. Panelled dado.

Object history
Given by Leslie Linder (1904-1973) to the National Book League (now the Book Trust) in 1970 as part of a representative selection of Beatrix Potter's work. This selection, comprising 279 drawings and 38 early editions and now known as the Linder Collection, was formerly on long-term loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1989 and 2019 form the charitable trust, The Linder Trust.
