This boy's tie was produced in the 1970s by 'Smart Guy'. It is made from textured cotton and has a purple, pink and orange floral pattern. The tie has a wide, pointed end which was a popular style of that era.

Purple tie with pink and orange flowers for a boy, made by 'Smart Guy' in the 1970s
Physical description
Boy's tie made from textured cotton with floral design printed on it. The patter consists of orange flowers, pink leaves and white leaves on a deep purple background. Both ends of the tie are pointed and the tie is quite wide. There is an original price tag attached to the label.

Object history
This tie was donated by Jackie and Norman Newton who opened a children's clothing boutique in Essex in the early 1970s. The tie was one of the items saved after the shop closed a few years later. The objects donated by the Newtons were often worn by their own children.
