This boy's shirt was produced in the 1970s by Chilprufe, a childswear company based in Leicester. It is made from a fabric called CourtelleTM which is a synthetic fibre that resembles wool. The shirt itself is orange and beige and features a repetitive pattern across the surface of the fabric.

Physical description
Boy's shirt made from orange and cream patterned, synthetic fabric. The shirt has a large collar and can be fastened around the neck with orange, plastic buttons. The long sleeves also fasten with matching buttons on the cuffs. There is a pocket on the left hand side of the chest, decorated with another orange button.

The label sewn into garment indicated that it is made for a child of 10 years of age, or of someone 140cm tall

Object history
This shirt was donated by Jackie and Norman Newton who opened a children's clothing boutique in Essex in the 1970s. The shirt was one of the items saved after the shop closed a few year slater. The objects donated by the Newtons were often worn by their own children.
