Apron

1887 (made)
Place of origin

This apron was probably worn by a child at celebrations for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Other similar examples are known of (for instance at Buckinghamshire County Museum, AYBCM 1977.393) and it seems that the aprons may have been a sewing exercise and were then worn at a Jubilee party.

The donor, Mary Prichard, believes that the apron belonged originally to her great great aunt, Eliza Edmonds (1835-1926), who was a school teacher at Skenfrith in Monmouthshire.
