Joanne Yulan Jong is a Scottish-born designer with South African and Chinese ancestry. During her studies she worked with couturiers in London and Paris to learn their skills and techniques. After she graduated from the Royal College of Art she moved to Milan where in 1996 she became Design Director for Armani's womenswear line 'Le Collezioni'; she was the first in-house designer to be dedicated solely to this collection. She left in 1999 to found her fashion label, 'Yulan,' and also launch a consultancy for designers and firms such as Missoni, DAKS Simpson, Austin Reed and Exte.
