Wedding Dress

1971 (designed and made)
Place of origin

Gina Fratini (1931-1917) trained at the Royal College of Art in London, where many of the well-known fashion designers of the 'Swinging Sixties' also learned their craft. She launched her independent business in 1964 and built a reputation for beautifully made, romantic special-occasion wear. This beautiful dress was worn by Pamela Howard Mace as a wedding dress while she was design director for Mary Quant Ltd, a brand known for fun, good quality but mass-produced ready-to-wear. While Pamela Howard Mace often wore Mary Quant designs, clearly she needed something quite formal and special for her marriage, and this seems to have been the perfect choice.
