Star Girl Banded with Blue Wave
1966

This screenprint was commissioned for the Scarabaeus home furnishing store in New York City. The image refers to Wonder Woman, the iconic role model who featured in American comics. Nessim displayed her own copy of Star Girl in the apartment she shared with Gloria Steinem from 1962 to ’68. Steinem, later a key figure in the Women’s Movement, also used an image of Wonder Woman for one of the first issues of Ms magazine.
