Object history
This figure of Sir Arthur Gilbert was created for an installation called "Arthur's Office" at the Gilbert Museum in Somerset House, London. This space was a reconstruction of the private office of Sir Arthur Gilbert at his Beverly Hills home, and included original furnishings from his office alongside objects from the Gilbert Collection and personal memorabilia. The figure and furnishing were sent to Somerset House in 2000 and remained on display until the Gilbert Collection was given on loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2008.
