Mary Yonge worked for many years as a textile designer for Courtaulds before becoming the Head of Studio. While working at Courtaulds, Yonge taught one day a week at Central School of Arts and Design, where she had been a student. Yonge retired from Courtaulds and began working freelance in the 1960s. During this period she worked with a group that sold their designs to major companies like Liberty & Co. and Edinburgh Weavers.

Although she used the name 'Yonge' on her work, Mary's married name was 'O'Donovan'. Mary Yonge passed away in 2010 aged 102.

Design, small brightly coloured, composed of cartouche-like images of ponds and trees, featuring swimming and flying birds, and fruit, the background is painted in blue watercolour with red and white floral patterns resembling tulips and daisies.
