Catching the Hairy

Print
2011 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Rachel Goodyear has established her reputation with delicate mysterious and sometimes disturbing drawings. The same qualities are to be found in her recent prints. The work hints at narrative in its title, but the characters are isolated, contained, strange. As in all her work there are references to the world of fairy tales, and female characters are shown in oddly intimate relationships with creatures of all kinds from bats and bears to giant squids.
