Literary references
  • The puppet Eve is based on the biblical figure. Eve was the wife of Adam. According to the the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day. Adam was formed from the "dust of the ground". According to the the Book of Genesis, Eve was fashioned from one of Adam's ribs after God had removed it. They were originally both naked and not ashamed of their nakedness. But Eve was led into temptation by the serpent by whom she was tempted to take an apple from the Tree of Knowledge. She then offered it to Adam. For her disobedience Eve was condemned to painful childbearing and to be ruled over by Adam. God then banished them from Paradise.
