The print gives a vivid picture of a backstage scene at the Grand Opera house in Paris. The print depicts ballet dancers chatting away to visitors behind the curtains and Dick taking the chin of a ballerina, while the stout Squire staggers from a sideways kick from a ballerina. An almost nude man stands in the right hand corner of the print, taking snuff, while one little cherub chases another with his bulky club. The print is by George Cruikshank and was published on August 1, 1822 by John Fairburn in Broadway, Ludgate Hill.
