This fashion design shows a woman wearing a driving helmet, with the front turned over and a detachable chin strap, buttoned on, designed by Marjorie Field for the haute couture firm Field Rhoades which was registered in the London street directories at 77, South Audley Street, London W1 for the years 1948 to 1949. On the design, black solid lines and dot lines have been applied over the crown to describe stitching. A smaller sketch at bottom right shows the crown of the hat. At top right, the designer noted the lambskin or sheepskin out of which the driving helmet was intended to be made and special features of the design.

Physical description

A drawing depicting a woman wearing a driving helmet made of lambskin or sheepskin, with the front turned over and a detachable chin strap buttoned on.
