| Gallery label | Jill loved the combination of tartan and animal prints which she saw as a witty Italian interpretation of the impressive tartans and protective animal skins worn by drummers in Scottish military bands. The cropped jacket resembles mess uniform - its tailored precision and geometric check contrasts with the imitation leopard print and soft lines of the gathered skirt and matching top. A straw boater by Janet James completed the ensemble, which was worn at Ascot.(2008) |
