Part of a Tableware Set Designed by Roger Fry (British, 1866-1934) Made by Carter & Co., Poole, Dorset, Great Britain, for the Omega Workshops, about 1914 Earthenware Partly bequeathed by Margaret Bulley Misc.2 (55)-1934, Circ.173-1964 Roger Fry, art critic and founder of the Omega Workshops, valued especially evidence of the hand process in pots thrown on the wheel. No cleaning up of excess clay was permitted; instead he had moulds made which repeated the irregularities and made the Omega pottery available in limited commercial production.'
