Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This pair of black ankle boots with bold wedges is the London-based shoe designer Atalanta Weller's trademark. The boots show both playfulness and experimentation with technical process. The use of polyutrethane (usually for trainer moulds) for the extremely high wedge heel give bounce and comfort. The boots, called 'Scotty', come from the A/W 2010 collection, inspired by the TV-series 'Star Trek'.

Brief description
Pair of boots, black leather ankle boots, 'Scotty Black', A/W 2010, Atalanta Weller, designed in Great Britain, made in Portugal, 2010.
Physical description
One pair of black ankle platform boots with wedge heel and zipper down the side. Square toe with wing tips at the back of boot opening. Glossy leather across vamp at front toe, up towards ankle and around the edge, while sides and heel are covered by mottled matt leather. Lined with dark purple leather. Pull for zipper shaped into a 'V' or upside down 'A'. Dark purple leather insole with 'ATALANTA WELLER' incised. Cream coloured leather sole with 'A' incised. Size 38.
A. Weller: The metallic leather is a plate stamp on calf with a metallic finish. The main body of the shoe is black calf leather, the lining is kid and the sole leather. The wedge of the shoe was complicated due both to the size and shape; first built in computer 3D, then made in aluminium moulds. Due to the size and many angles it had to be placed on an odd angle to enable it to be removed once made. The material is blown polyurethane - usually associated with sports shoes - which is lightweight and comfortable to walk in as it is a bit springy. The space under the top triangle also allows for a bit of impact absorbing flex too. The sole is leather with the top piece injection moulded with rubber, keeping with the sci-fi tec feel of the shoe, and keeping the slim profile.
