Physical description

World War II Nazi propaganda poster featuring a black and white photographic image of a smiling girl. She stands to the right of the poster, her hair is plaited, and she wares a white apron over her dress, and she looks out across a countryside scene, which is printed in monochromatic green. The monogram 'NSV', for Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist Welfare), features at the bottom of the poster.

The text on the right-hand side of the poster reads, 'Mädel, wenn Du Kindergärtnerin, Schwester oder Volkspflegerin werden willst, kannst Du sofort nach erfolgreicher Beendigung der Mittel- Haupt- oder auch der Volksschule als NSV. - Vorschülerin Aufnahme finden. Der Einsatz erfolgt in NSV. -Einrichtungen wie Säuglingsheimen, Krippen, Jugendheimstätten, Kindergärten, Jugenderholungs- und Mütterheimen. Die Fachausbildung beginnt mit dem vollendeten 16., 18. oder 19. Lebensjahr.'

Girl, if you want to become a nursery-school teacher, Sister or Nurse, you can be admitted as an NSV trainee immediately after successful completion of primary or secondary school. You will be employed in NSV institutions such as infant homes, crèches, children's homes, kindergartens, youth recreation homes, and recreation- care-homes for mothers. Vocational training begins at the age of 16, 18 or 19.
Printed in black sans-serif letters on the right hand side of the poster. Note: Mittelschule is similar to a secondary modern school; Hauptschule is another type of secondary school; Volksschule refers to a basic vocational primary and secondary education.

The Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (NSV) was the Nazi party's welfare organization, founded in September 1931 in Berlin. It controlled the official role in welfare and later on the racial policy of the Third Reich.
