This painting was originally presented by Russian guests to the Minister of Education in 1956. Although transferred to the Museum in 1962 the painting remained with the Ministry for many years and was hung in the Conference Room of Margaret Thatcher who worked at the ministry before becoming Prime Minister 1979-1992.
