Place of origin

Henry Warren was a significant figure in the Regency and Victorian art world. He was a prolific watercolourist and illustrator and the author of numerous technique books on painting and drawing. He was a member of the New Society of Painters in Watercolours of which he became president in 1839.

This painting is possibly related to a picture entitled Love among the Roses which Warren exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1823 together with the line of verse; 'The Graces there were culling posies and found young Love among the roses', and again at the New Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1832.
