Print
1977 (proofed), 1983 (Published)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Flanagan is perhaps best known as a sculptor, whose recurrent motif is a leaping hare, but he has also made prints throughout his career. He made this image whilst staying on the Scottish island of Cara; it recalls the view from a house owned by friends on the island which he briefly visited in 1977 . In 1984 David Brown wrote: "At a time of unprecedented sophistication in the making of prints, [Flanagan's] prints remind us of the virtues that simplicity and economy can bring to the medium. Like visits to old friends they leave the viewer refreshed."
