ca. 1783 (painted)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This painting has previously been thought to be by the artist Thomas Gainsborough but the quality and style of the work has led to this attribution being questioned. The image is probably a copy after the original work in the Royal Collection or a copy of the Gainsborough that is in the Bache Collection at the Metropolitan Museum, New York. Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was the wife of King George III of England, who reigned from 1760-1820.
