Place of origin |
Also known as 'Old Jock', John Wilson was born in Ayr, Scotland but spent most of career in London where he painted, almost exclusively, coastal and river scenes.
This painting has not been identified with any of his exhibited works but it is a lively example of Wilson's painting style. The scene is full of energy and activity and probably depicts the unloading of a ship's cargo of textiles.
