Schiller and Gerbing flourished in Bohemia (part of modern Czechoslovakia) from 1829 to about 1885, making useful and decorative stoneware and earthenware. This piece is a fairly accurate copy of Chinese red stoneware of about 1700 from the Yixing kilns, in which the two pots are placed side by side. here the pots have been rearranged one above the other to function as a coffee percolator. |
