This panel was formerly part of the collection of the Museum of Practical Geology; it depicts an unidentifiable Islamic fortification in North Africa. The process by which it was made is called émaux ombrants. Du Tremblay worked in partnership with Baron Arnable. They patented this technique, in which the decoration is moulded, undercut and then glazed so that the deeper areas retain the strongest pool of colour, in 1836, with improvements in 1842. They produced a wide variety of items at a factory near du Tremblay's château, Rubelles, near Mehun.
