Drawing by Feliks Topolski showing Alec McCowen as Alceste, Robert Eddison as Philinte, Diana Rigg as Celimene and Gawn Grainger as Oronte in a scene from Tony Harrison's updated version of Moliere's The Misanthrope, National Theatre at the Old Vic, 1975. The production first opened at the Old Vic in February 1973 and played in repertoire during that year. Such was its success that it was revived in 1975, when Robert Eddison joined the cast.
