Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The ‘Pill Stool’ was designed by Jasper Morrison in 1997 for the Pharmacy Restaurant and Bar. Pharmacy was opened by Damien Hirst and Matthew Freud in 1998, in Notting Hill. The restaurant was a phenomenon, linking the gastro-world with art, design, and London’s celebrity scene. The ‘Pill Stool’, so called as it looks like a giant pill, was part of the interior seating design in the restaurant. The ‘medical’ theme continued throughout the space: the walls were covered with medicine cabinets, filled with drugs, and pharmacy-style neon signage hung outside the building.
