Vanity cases were made for wealthy men and women as a traveling convenience. This case, mounted in red leather and lined in lavender silk was probably made for use by a woman.

The contents consist of three circular metal boxes and covers, a soap container, a rectangular container lined with ceramic, two carved glass bottles, and an enamel backed bristle brush. The cover holds a mirror, a comb and a nail pick.

Rectangular red leather vanity case with exterior lock and leather handle. The interior is lined with lilac coloured silk and contains compartments housing three circular lidded boxes, two rectangular lidded boxes, two lidded glass bottles, a comb, a brush and a nail pick.
