Object history
This watercolour was commissioned by John Forster. It was engraved by J Saddler and published facing page 502 of volume 3 of Forster's 'Life of Charles Dickens', London, 1874. Letters (5) dating from 4 October 1873 to 25 January 1874, from Forster to Fildes, probably referring to this watercolour are in the National Art Library.
