Daphne Krinos trained at Middlesex University in the late 1970s and was awarded a Crafts Council Setting up Grant in 1982. Since then she has worked as an independent jeweller in London, making primarily one-off pieces. In this necklace her starting point was a string of irregular rectangular beryl beads. Each bead has been isolated and she has created a series of trapezoid gold frames in which to present the individual beads. The use of pale beryl with gold is distinctive of her work, the combination reminding her of 'the colours of my Summers' in Greece.
Necklace, gold and beryls, with original box, Daphne Krinos, London, 2007.
