The Paris designer, artist, patron and retailer François-Eugène Rousseau exhibited pâte-sur-pâte decorated porcelain at the international exhibition held in Paris in 1867. He advertised himself as displaying "decorated porcelain; fancy earthenware; enamels" and it is possible that this grand example may have been included. It was bought directly from him, two years later, in 1869.(1987-2006) |
