Brief description | Design by Sophie Fedorovitch for the permanent set of Nocturne, Vic-Wells Ballet, Sadler's Wells Theatre, 10 November 1936 |
Object history | This design is probably a preliminary sketch for the set for Nocturne which Fedorovitch appears to have redrawn on a number of occasions. It shows the columns, bill-posted with announcements for ‘Un bal’, but not the balustrade that linked them. Beyond them a backcloth evoked the night sky of late 19th-century Paris. |
