Place of origin

This is a fashion design depicting a woman wearing a red jacket, designed by Marjorie Field in the 1940s for the haute couture frim Field Rhoades which was registered in the London directories at 77, South Audley Street for the years 1948 to 1949. Pencil lines have been added over the opaque red bodycolour to define the lines and details of the jacket. The design is signed with the name of the firm, and would probably have been used as a presentation drawing, for clients to decide which model they wanted to have made.
