The coat-of-arms of the city of Amsterdam appears in the centre and corners of this hanging. Another piece with the same squarish format and the same arms, but with different floral decoration, is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Chintz palampore with coat of arms
Physical description
A squarish palampore (wall-hanging or bed-cover) of painted and dyed cotton (chintz). The field has the coat-of-arms of the city of Amsterdam in the centre, and again in the four corners. The rest of the field is filled with stylised flowers and leaves, some showing the influence of European 'bizarre' silks. The border has a repeated design of floral sprays.
