"March 1981 - A New Era" Space Shuttle poster. Image of the Space Shuttle Columbia attached to its rocket launcher, in a vertical position, billowing opaque yellow 'smoke' behind it, as if taking off. The Shuttle is superimposed over the front page from a newspaper, the 'New York Times', dated Wednesday, February 21, 1962 (though the date and year are obscured), and printed in black on pale grey. The newspaper reports on the first American Astronaut (John H. Glenn Jr.) to successfully orbit the earth, under the headline, 'GLENN ORBITS EARTH [3] TIMES SAFELY; / PICKED UP IN CAPSULE [BY] DESTROYER; / PRESIDENT WILL [GREET HIM] IN FLORIDA' (words in square brackets are obscured by the overlaid image of the shuttle). In the bottom left corner of the poster, in pale yellow letters, is the slogan, 'MARCH '81 / A NEW ERA'.
