The Hindu god Shiva is shown walking with the goddess Devi, who is dressed and armed as a warrior, bearing a sword, shield and bow. The deities are accompanied by Nandi (Shiva's bull), a tiger (Devi's traditional mount) and two jackals, inhabitants of the cremation grounds frequented by Shiva and the Goddess. The slate blue background is typical of Mandi painting in the 18th century.
