The style of this type of elaborately decorated tall cylindrical teapot shows that it was made by Newar craftsmen, probably in the Kathmandu Valley. such vessels may have been made for export to Tibet or alternatively for Tibetans in Tibet itself. The shape was inspired by more ancient Chinese vessels called duomu hu.

Physical description
Beer-jug of repoussé brass and silver, with cast bronze spout and handle. The vessel has a cylindrical body with lobed top, curving dragon handle, and makara spout. The body is divided into four horizontal bands with low relief patterns of dragons, makaras, animlas bearing the Jewel on their backs. Five four-lobed silver relief plaques are applied over three of the bands, figured with dragons, banners and with a Tamdin head.
