This form and style of this type of teapot is typical of south and central Tibet. In Tibet tea is brewed in a seperate pot, then mixed with butter and salt before being served in a teapot such as this. Ita tapered body would have fitted snugly into one of the holes in the top of the earth stove formerly common in south and central Tibet.
