Physical description
Ganesh, son of Shiva and Parvati is shown sitting on a low stool, with his vehicle, the rat, below him. He is depicted as short and fat with an elephant's head. His four arms carry a club, a discus, a conch shell and a lotus. He wears a long green scarf around his shoulders and a 'dhoti' from the waist down. The jewelled head ornament indicates he is a god. His body is always painted in a shade of pink while his head remains white. Personal adornments of necklaces, hair and ear ornaments are painted in tin alloy.
