Physical description | A popular poster depicting Ganesha, Shiva, Parvati and Karttikeya shown here as a family sitting on a golden throne with a golden torana behind them. There is mount Kailasa in the background. As Lord of the Animals, Shiva is shown with his attributes in the rear two hands; an axe ( parashu) and the antelope. On his forehead is his third eye and three horizontal stripes, and on the top of his head is a crescent moon and a fountain. There is a cobra around his neck. Shiva's mount, Nandi, is in front of the throne with a bowl of fruits and a peacock. Ganesh is wearing a pink dhoti and is shown with four hands holding his attributes. At his feet is a mouse which is his vahana (vehicle). Parvati sits with a lotus in one hand and her arm around the baby Karttikeya. |
