Pair of very large metal alloy anklets (ghungru or pairi), each roughly cast in one piece by the cire-perdue process, contains ten jingles, or bell-like receptacles enclosing pellets, with its lowest band of ornament. They contain three bands of relief ornament. The upper band represents large and small pearls; the middle row copies jewels mounted over plaited wire-work or applied twisted wires; and the lower band simluates large cabochon gems set with pearls.
Note: in the V&A photograph four anklets are shown. 96-1904 and 96:A-1904 are the pair on the left. The pair on the right are 98-1904 and 98:A-1904.
