The design of this fire extinguisher introduced a simple discharge system which operated by squeezing the trigger and directing the discharge at the base of the fire to be extinguished. Its superiority over rival manufacturers secured a Design Council Award for 1976.

Blue fire extinguisher, steels, design team led by Dave Fitch, manufactured by Chubb, England, Wolverhampton, 1976-77. Winner of the Design Council Award 1976.
Physical description
Fire extinguisher, cylindrical with a domed top, a trigger mechanism above connected to a nozzle to direct the discharge at the fire to be extinguished. The trigger is locked by a pin which is extracted to operate the mechanism. The body, coloured blue to denote that the contained powder. The range of Chubb extinguishers are colour coded to indicate the type of extinguisher. Blue indicates an all-purpose powder dealing with wood, cloth, paper and similar materials, flammable liquid, petrol, oil, grease, and electrical equipment fires.
