The designer Wilhelm (William Charles Pitcher RI, 1858-1925) was one of the most inventive and prolific late 19th century costume designers, whose early passion for stage spectacle led to his employment designing pantomime costumes for Drury Lane Theatre. His attention to detail and his ability to create visually stunning and decorative costumes appealed to producers and public alike and led to a constant stream of work.

Physical description
Costume design by Wilhelm for Miss H Gallon as Ivy and Miss Cicely Turner as Jack Frost. Ivy wears a forest green, floor-length dress trimmed with ivy leaves, an ivy wreath on her head and holds a staff also trimmed with ivy. Jack Frost wears a white body suit speckled with silver and draped with a transparent mantle trimmed with a white and silver fringe. On her head she wears a silver fringed head dress and holds a staff in the same decorated in the same style and topped with a white rabbit head. Costumes for the pantomime Santa Claus as performed at the Royal Lyceum Theatre on 27th December 1894.
